Grilled calamari with thyme, garlic and Espelette pepper

Fancy a simple and tasty recipe à la plancha? Try our dish of grilled calamari with thyme, garlic and chilli pepper… Serve for extra indulgence with squid ink tagliatelle, for example, or a salad of pickled peppers!


600 g – Cleaned calamari

1 – Head of garlic

2 tsp – Chilli pepper

4 sprigs – Thyme

5 tbsp – Olive oil

Salt and pepper


  1. Start this recipe for calamari à la plancha by mixing the chilli pepper with 4 tbsp. olive oil, salt and the thyme leaves.
  2. Coat the rinsed and dried squid in this marinade. Cover and chill for 30 mins.
  3. Halve the head of garlic. Oil, salt and pepper both sides. Wrap in aluminium foil. Place on the plancha and cook for 25 mins.
  4. Cut the calamari into pieces about 2cm wide and grill them for 3 mins on each side.
  5. Serve with the garlic confit.
