Whilst the Hestia Heat & Cook collection is designed for outdoor use and is made from high-quality materials, a waterproof cover is recommended for extra protection from the elements. Ensure your Hestia has completely cooled down and all embers and ash have been removed before covering.
Always place the appliance on a non-combustible surface, and check that there is no combustible material above the appliance (such as trees etc). Ensure the appliance is stable before lighting, and ensure you wear gloves as all surfaces will become hot when in use. Please take additional care in the presence of children and pets.
Do not use indoors, or in a tent, and do not move the appliance when hot.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can burn either logs or charcoal in your Hestia appliance. If you're using a Hestia Heat 50 stove to provide heat, we'd recommend using well seasoned or kiln dried logs with a maximum moisture content of 20% as these will burn most efficiently. However if you're cooking on the Heat & Cook Grill 50 model we'd recommend using lumpwood charcoal, but you can also use logs for cooking and heating on this model too. See your user manual for lighting instructions.

Both models are very easy to light, with the Heat & Cook Grill 50 generally reaching optimum cooking temperature within 15 minutes. Cooking and heating temperatures are precisely controlled with a single air lever.

To clean the inside of the appliance and grill simply add charcoal and run the unit up to a temp of 200 - 250 °C for 15-20 minutes. Allow appliance to cool down. Prior to cooking brush the ash residue off the grill with a wire brush. Alternatively, the stainless steel grill can be removed and washed manually in warm soapy water with a sponge. Do not use solvents or other cleaning products, as this can potentially taint the food. To empty the integral ash pan, first remove the grate. The ash pan can then be accessed, lifted out and emptied. IMPORTANT: The ash pan must be emptied after each use. To clean the outside of the body use a damp soft cloth. If required, touch up paint is available from: www.yourdragonfly.com The stainless steel parts and glass can be cleaned using grade 000 wire wool.

Your Hestia is made to withstand a variety of weather conditions. However, to maintain the original colour and protect it from damage, we recommend the use of a waterproof cover, or storing it in a dry and covered place. IMPORTANT: Please ensure the appliance is completely cooled down and all embers and ash have been removed before attempting to cover or move the appliance.
