Colourful Grilled Veggie Skewers

Just one of these colourful veggie skewers represents 2 of your 5 portions of fruit and veg per day! They’re bright, feisty, and easily adapted to preference. Serve as many as you like with these healthy treats for both children and adults.


Time – 20 minutes

Serves – as many as you like!


Ingredients (Amounts as needed)

Onions – red and/or brown


Bell peppers – red, yellow, orange, and green

Herbes de Provence

Olive oil

Balsamic vinegar

Corn (optional)

Mushrooms (optional)

Cherry Tomatoes (optional)

Aubergine (optional)



Prepare your Veggies – Chop all your vegetables into roughly equal pieces.

Load up the Skewers – Put the vegetable pieces onto the skewers, alternating between the different vegetables and leaving a small space between each. Letting little ones choose their own ingredients is a great way to get them excited about veg! Of course, the skewering part is best left to grown ups.

Once your skewers are loaded up with the pieces you want, if anything won’t stay on, use a piece of onion on either side to hold everything in place.

Grill – Drizzle your skewers with olive oil and herbs and pop them on the grill for 5 minutes. Remember to turn them over halfway!

Dress and Serve – Once cooked, take your tasty treats off the grill, season with a little salt and pepper, and dress with balsamic vinegar. Once you’ve done this, serve – either individually or on a platter.
